About My Dog Has Fleas

Today

Hal and Dorian discovered they were both musicians,
songwriters, and dog lovers when they met in 1988
while Dorian was vacationingin Japan.

As an experiment, they began shuttling 8-track multi-
track tapes across the Pacific Ocean. Hal would write
and record some basic tracks and then Dorian would
add additional parts, and vice-versa.

That went on for two years and many great songs
were developed out of this unconventional
collaboration. Unfortunately, life happened and Hal
and Dorian lost track of one another.

19 years later, Dorian stumbled upon Hal's name on
the internet, contacted him, and they learned that
they were both still very fond of the music they had
composed together all those years ago and decided
to give it another go.

They reworked and recorded the original songs and
contributed a few new tracks using the latest in DAW
technology.

Yesterday

Dorian began playing in bands and writing music
when he was 13.  A couple years later, Dorian met
Bob Shaw, and a lasting, rewarding and successful
musical partnership, Medd & Shaw, began and
continued until the summer of ’82.  Between them
hundreds of their original songs made it into this
dynamic folk/rock duos repertoire.

Dorian sings and plays electric and acoustic guitars,
keyboards, percussion, and various other
instruments.  Extensive tours under the direction of
Dymaxion Talent Agency allowed the duo to hone
their skills and build a tight and cohesive unit.

A recording contract with independent label, Riser
Records, led to 5 successful record releases and the
opportunity to work with great musicians Steven
Drake (the Odds), and award winning composer
Patric Caird (The Powder Blues).

After Medd & Shaw, and a few subsequent bands,
Dorian emerged simply as Dorian M.  He was joined
by lyricist and author, Jo Nichols (author & creator of
Cackleberries), and penned dozens of high octane
songs.  Four of which made it on to a Dorian M. EP
entitled Soft Touch, and produced by the famed Guy
Sobell, (formerly of the Chessmen and producer of
Disco Queen Denise McCann).  Jamie Bowers, Daryl
Burgess, and Wendy Gregson also contributed to the
EP.

Hal started playing bass when he was 18 and formed
and played in a number of bands over the following
3 years.  Hal began composing and recording
original songs in 1985. Hal plays electric and acoustic
guitars, bass and piccolo bass, keyboards, and drums
sequenced with digital music software.  Under the
direction of award winning musical director, Yoko
Narahashi, Hal played bass in the orchestra of the
inspiring 70’s musical Runaways.  Hal’s music
influences include The Beatles, Styx, Journey, Toto,
Kansas, Boston, The Cars, Jeff Beck, B.B. King,
Chuck Berry, Wes Montgomery, and Jaco Pastorius

Tomorrow

What you are listening to was completely born out of
a passion and a love for music, the fulfillment of a
dream, and some earnest hard work and pure
enjoyment.  Hal and Dorian thank you for supporting
their collaborative effort, and hope to continue their
life long journey of discovery via the musical realms
of MyDogHasFleas.
